our story
Celebrating the Art of Real Cider Making
At the heart of our cider-making is one simple passion: bringing authentic, whole juice cider back to pubs, restaurants, and shops in Usk, Monmouthshire — and sharing it with cider lovers across the UK and beyond.
From Orchard to Bottle – No Shortcuts
We believe cider should be a true artisan product, not a mass-produced imitation. Our range is carefully crafted to honour traditional cider-making techniques, from Traditional Method (also known as Champagne Method) and bottle-conditioned styles to Rural Method 750ml sharing bottles. We also produce modern and farmhouse blends in classic 500ml bottles — each one made with care, character, and respect for the apple.
Sourced from Three Legendary Cider Regions
We work with three incredible orchards, each in a county famous for its cider-making heritage: Monmouthshire, Herefordshire, and Somerset. Our ciders are blended to create balanced, complex flavours, but we also aim to showcase single-variety ciders in the future to highlight how terroir and location shape the apple’s character.
At Meggy’s Cyder, we believe that crafting great cider and perry goes hand in hand with respecting the land and community around us. Our small-batch approach allows us to work closely with local orchards, celebrating the diversity of traditional apple and pear varieties while reducing food miles and supporting sustainable farming.
We are committed to making the most of every resource in our cidermaking process:
Apple and pear pomace left over from pressing is taken to a local pig farm, where it becomes nutritious animal feed rather than waste.
Bottles are washed and reused whenever possible, helping us cut down on the environmental impact of single-use glass.
Water from our hydropress is collected and repurposed for cleaning equipment, reducing unnecessary consumption.
By closing these loops and rethinking waste, we aim to tread lightly, reduce our environmental footprint, and give back to the local ecosystem that makes our cider possible. Sustainability is not just a practice for us — it’s part of the story behind every bottle of Meggy’s Cyder.
